DOCUMENTARY WORLD PREMIERE W Network presents the WORLD PREMIERE of Street Nurse, Sunday, November 17th at 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. This powerful point-of-view documentary explores the streets of Toronto through the eyes of CATHY CROWE, a woman who calls herself a “street nurse” because her patients live there. CROWE is a nurse, an activist and an artist who has made fighting homelessness her life’s missions. This documentary will take viewers inside CROWE’s world, and her fight to raise consciousness that every person deserves a place to live in a country that can well afford it. Street Nurse was directed, written and produced by SHELLEY SAYWELL (A Child’s Century of War, Crimes of Honor, Out of the Fire) and airs only days before National Housing Day, which takes place on Friday, November 22nd. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS MONICA LEWINSKY SPECIAL On Saturday, November 16th, 8:00-10:00 p.m. viewers can catch the W premiere of HBO’s Monica In Black & White. The world knows Monica Lewinsky as the former White House intern whose encounters with President Bill Clinton led to an investigation that resulted in his subjection to the impeachment process. These events transfixed a world audience. In this extraordinary HBO documentary, MONICA LEWINSKY discusses her experiences in a unique and candid discussion forum, without restrictions from the independent counsel’s office. Airing on the anniversary of Monica Lewinsky’s and Bill Clinton’s alleged first sexual encounter, HBO’s Monica In Black & White provides a unique chronological overview of how the investigation of a White House intern’s private relationship with the President nearly brought down his administration, and how the media fueled the frenzy. KURT BROWNING SPECIAL The North American premiere of Kurt Browning’s Gotta Skate 2 airs Friday, November 29th, 9:00-11:00 p.m.; (r) Sunday, December 1st, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This special tapes on Saturday November 1, 2002 at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario. Confirmed talent includes KURT BROWNING (skater), SONIA RODRIGUEZ (National Ballet of Canada prima ballerina), ANTIGRAVITY (acrobatic group) and singer EDWIN. SEASON PREMIERES NEW CANADIAN SERIES Thrill of a Lifetime, an updated version of the popular ‘80s TV series that turned viewers’ wildest dreams into reality, premieres Monday, November 4th, 10:30 –11:00 p.m.; (r) Saturday, November 9th, 7:30 – 8:00 p.m. Produced in association with the W Network by Red Apple Entertainment, this revamped version grants thrills, chills and some downright guilty pleasures to everyday women. Thrills in the first few episodes include: * In a game of comedic one-upmanship, a 43-year-old mother finds herself live on-stage with Canada’s own COLIN MOCHRIE. And, a newlywed arranges for her amateur chef husband to meet Iron CHEF MORIMOTO, who challenges him to a cook-off. “Meeting the Master” airs Monday, November 4th, 10:30 – 11:00 p.m. * A former paramedic gets to roll a car in a demolition smash-up derby. And, a convenience store clerk gets her shot onstage with the New York Grand Opera Company in Central Park. “Drive to Succeed” airs Monday, November 11th, 10:30 – 11:00 p.m. * A new doctor heads to Hollywood to hang with the cast of the hugely popular NBC sitcom, Scrubs. Please note that new episodes will air on Sundays only. SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIES Enjoy great blockbuster hits every Saturday night in October on the W Network. In the W Network premiere of Truly Madly Deeply (1991), airing Saturday, November 2nd, 8:00 - 10:30 p.m., pianist Nina and cellist Jamie both play together and love together. But their idyllic romantic and musical partnership is cut short with Jamie’s tragic death, until he returns from the dead as a ghost to comfort her. Truly Madly Deeply stars JULIET STEVENSON and ALAN RICKMAN. An encore presentation of Sommersby (1993) airs Saturday, November 9th, 8:00 – 10:30 p.m. Starring RICHARD GERE, JODIE FOSTER, BILL PULLMAN and JAMES EARL JONES, and set after the Civil War, Sommersby follows a man as he returns home to his wife several years after he was presumed dead. Starring DEMI MOORE, ROBERT REDFORD and WOODY HARRELSON, the W Network premiere of Indecent Proposal (1993) airs Saturday, November 23rd, 8:00 – 10:30 p.m. When a young couple stands to lose everything they own, they go to Las Vegas for one shot to win the money they need. After losing at the tables, a man offers one million dollars for one night with the wife. The couple agrees to the offer, but it threatens to destroy their relationship. In the W Network premiere of Crimes of the Heart (1986), airing Saturday, November 30th, 8:00 – 10:30 p.m. , three high-strung sisters with quite different personalities and lives reunite at the oldest sister’s house in the deep south for a birthday. Lenny, the oldest, can't seem to sustain a relationship with a man. Meg is an aspiring actress who hasn't progressed beyond commercial voice-overs, and Babe is released on bond from jail after shooting her senator husband. Their reunion brings joy, but also many tensions. Crimes of the Heart stars DIANE KEATON, JESSICA LANGE and SISSY SPACEK. OPEN FOR DISCUSSION MOVIES Every Monday night W Network viewers can enjoy a feature movie that addresses issues many Canadian women face in their own lives. Following the movie, AVRIL BENOÎT leads a panel discussion on the issue from the film in Open for Discussion. In Suddenly (1996) airing Monday, November 4th, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. , a woman loses the man she loves when she is hit by a bus and left a paraplegic. Suddenly stars KIRSTIE ALLEY (Veronica’s Closet, Cheers) and COLLEEN CAMP (Election). After the film, AVRIL will discuss sex and paralysis with GARY KARP, who is paralyzed with a spinal cord injury, YVETTE FIOLA, paralyzed during a diving accident, and her partner ALAIN CENERINI. Starring HEATHER LOCKLEAR (Spin City, Dynasty) The Terror Inside (1996) airs Monday, November 11th, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. When a young mother is diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder after experiencing blackouts and memory losses, her husband must learn to deal with some of her “personalities”. After the movie, AVRIL explores Multiple Personality Disorders with guests SASHA PEDERSEN, who has recovered from Dissociative Identity Disorder and co-wrote the book, From Multiplicity to Oneness, and Dr. GEORGE FRASER, the Medical Director of the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic. The Autumn Heart (1999) airs Monday, November 18th, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. Starring TYNE DALY (Judging Amy) and ALLY SHEEDY (Breakfast Club, St. Elmo’s Fire), a mother, after suffering a serious heart attack, asks her three adult daughters to track down the son she gave up to her husband when they divorced 20 years earlier. In their search, the women come face to face with the father who left them. After the movie, AVRIL will explore the issue of adult children reuniting with their fathers. Guests include LEE ANNE CONNER, who reunited with her father after 28 years, and ANNETTE KUSSIN, a registered social worker and a registered marriage and family therapist. Starring JOANNA KERNS (Growing Pains) Shattering The Silence (1992) airs Monday, November 25th, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. When post-partum depression causes the reawakening of traumatic memories of childhood rape by her father, an angry young mother takes her tormentor to court, and nearly destroys her family. After the movie, AVRIL will discuss repressed and false memories with a psychologist and psychotherapist. DANIELLE STEELE MOVIES For the month of November, viewers can look forward to W Network premieres of Danielle Steele movies every Friday night at 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. In Remembrance (1996), airing Friday, November 1st, 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. , a European woman endures tragedy after she marries into a family of powerful American politicians. Remembrance stars EVE LA RUE (All My Children) and JEFFREY NORDLING (Once and Again). In Vanished (1995), airing Friday, November 8th, 9:00 – 11:00 p.m., a small boy’s disappearance leads his mother to suspect her ex-husband of kidnapping. Vanished stars LISA RINNA (Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place), GEORGE HAMILTON (Dynasty) and ROBERT HAYS (Airplane). In Star (1993), airing Friday, November 17th, 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. , a San Francisco nightclub singer is reunited with her one true childhood love. Star stars JENNIE GARTH (Beverly Hills 90210). In Once in a Lifetime (1994), airing Friday, November 22nd, 9:00 – 11:00 p.m. , a widowed author meets a new man while visiting her deaf son in boarding school. Once in a Lifetime stars LINDSAY WAGNER (The Bionic Women) and BARRY BOSTWICK (Spin City).
