TORONTO, December 8, 2021 – HISTORY® drives into the New Year with two Corus Studios series leading the network’s 2022 lineup. Out in front is the one-of-a-kind adventure, Lost Car Rescue, premiering Thursday, January 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The brand new series follows a team of young car hunters as they travel by air and by land to uncover and extract classic cars that have been abandoned in the Northern Canadian wilderness. Then, Rust Valley Restorers – which had its most successful launch with Season 3, and year over year audience growth – returns on Thursday, February 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT for Season 4.* The pressure is on as the ‘Rust Bros’ restoration shop faces unforeseen problems that threaten the more than 400 decaying classic cars in Mike Hall’s lot. Other series rolling out in the New Year include Beyond Oak Island premiering Sunday, January 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and Swamp People premiering Thursday, January 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The Lost Car Rescue team is led by Matt, a young car hunter committed to exploring the hidden car goldmines dotted throughout remote parts of North America. Unknown to most, there are hundreds of rare old cars, dating back to the 1920s that have been left to weather the elements and their legacy potentially lost to history. Enter Matt and his team – pilot, Jess, Steve “the wrench,” autobody expert, Dave, and crane operator, Lee. Together, they take a bird’s eye view to scout the cars location, then use their tow truck and crane to extract the vehicles from their resting places. In pursuit of their automotive treasure, Matt’s team learns the stories of these remote places and the people who have lived there for generations, preserving the lore along with the vehicles.
In Season 4 of Rust Valley Restorers, car restorer Mike Hall faces the toughest decision of his life: should he sell his beloved “Field of Dreams” and all of the cars he hasn’t yet saved? With new permit laws threatening to shut down his shop and fast approaching forest fires in the region, Mike is running out of time and money, and considers auctioning off his entire collection. Meanwhile his best friend Avery struggles to keep his own restoration business alive after receiving complaints from the neighbours, and Mike’s son Connor continues to help his father’s business while also planning his own wedding.
