TORONTO, Thursday, April 17, 2025 – As Canadians gear up for the much-anticipated federal election this month, Global News and Corus Radio are proud to present extensive coverage leading up to, and on the night, of April 28.

PRE-ELECTION COVERAGE

Since April 10, award-winning Global National anchor Dawna Friesen has hosted special federal election broadcasts from unique locations across the country as part of the network’s Decision Canada series. Dawna began her tour in Whitehorse and Calgary, where she spoke with Canadians about the steep challenges specific to their province during this crucial election. Her last stop will air on April 23 at 5:30 p.m. PT/MT/CT and 6:30 p.m. ET/AT out of Quebec City.

Tonight Global News will broadcast the English Federal Leaders Debate at 7 p.m. ET, where each leader will pitch their plan for the country just a day ahead of advance polling. The commercial-free broadcast will also be available for listeners via radio on 640 Toronto, 680 CJOB, 880 CHED, QR Calgary and 730 CKNW, followed by a special three-hour Conversations with Ben O’Hara Byrne show.

ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE

Decision Canada, Global News’ network-wide election night broadcast, will air live on April 28 across the country at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. The special will be hosted by Dawna Friesen alongside senior national affairs correspondent Eric Sorenson, and chief political correspondent David Akin, who will bring viewers up-to-date information throughout the evening and results across Canada’s key ridings.

Joining the election night team is host of Canada’s #1 political show*, The West Block, Mercedes Stephenson, as well political panelists including former Minister of Labour of Canada, Seamus O’Regan, former Minister of Transport of Canada, Lisa Raitt, former Shadow Minister for Finance of Canada, Nathen Cullen, former leader of The Bloc Québécois, Gilles Duceppe, and more.

Covering the campaign headquarters on election night are Global News journalists Mackenzie Gray, Touria Izri, Neetu Garcha, and Mike Amstrong. Ben Mulroney, Host of the nationally syndicated radio show, The Ben Mulroney Show, will also be joining the team with coverage and analysis from the Conservative Party Headquarters.

Corus Talk Radio network will air election coverage across it network hosted by Ben O’Hara Byrne and featuring live analysis of the results and the impact the decision will have on Canadians.
