TORONTO, November 26, 2020 – With a new year around the corner, Showcase and W Network are getting ready to ring in 2021 with a robust slate of new and returning series premiering in January. With almost 250 hours of new content across both networks, audiences will be entertained at home all season long with more crime-fighting, mystery-solving, supernatural stories, young adult drama, laugh-out-loud antics and feel-good romance. More information on Showcase and W Network’s 2021 primetime winter schedules can be found below.
Showcase Premieres
Starting off the winter 2021 season is the return of the gripping British detective drama, Bulletproof. Bishop (Noel Clarke, Brotherhood) and Pike (Ashley Walters, Top Boy) are back with a bang in a tense, action-packed undercover case. The lines between good and evil, friend or foe, blur in a heart stopping game of cat and mouse with an illusive crime family with connections that spread far beyond the U.K. Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, January 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
Following the premiere of Bulletproof is Season 2 of Tell Me A Story on Wednesday, January 6 at 10 p.m. ET. Reimagining fairytales into a twisted psychological thriller, Tell Me A Story’s second season will feature tales of three legendary princesses — Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella — like you’ve never seen them before. We’ll meet the Pruitt family as they navigate love, loss, romance, and terror against the iconic backdrop of Music City — Nashville, Tennessee. Tell Me A Story Season 2 stars Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries), Odette Annable (Supergirl), Eka Darville, Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham), Ashley Madekwe (Salem) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
Sundays on Showcase continue to deliver back-to-back must-see TV throughout the winter with the highly-anticipated return of Batwoman joining the schedule on Sunday, January 17 at 8 p.m. ET. Season 2 welcomes Javicia Leslie (God Friended Me) into the titular role and kicks off with a major game-changer that will alter Gotham and The Bat Team forever. As the dust settles, Batwoman has everything working against her – including the recently escaped rogues’ gallery of villains – and everyone will come to see her in a whole new light.
From Batwoman to Batman’s legendary butler, the second season of Pennyworth premieres Sunday, January 17 at 9 p.m. ET. A year after the explosive events of last season, England finds itself embroiled in a devastating civil war, with the powerful, neo-fascist Raven Union, led by Lord Harwood (Jason Flemyng) threatening to control the entire country. North London remains one of the few resistance holdouts remaining. It’s here in the West End Neutral Zone, that we find Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon, The Imitation Game). After years in the British Army, his training with the SAS has taught him to be a cynical optimist – expecting the worst, but knowing that he can handle it.
Continuing a month of popular series returns is All American, with Season 3 of the sports drama premiering on Monday, January 18 at 8 p.m. ET. At the end of Season 2, Spencer (Daniel Ezra, A Discovery of Witches) decides to return to South Crenshaw High for his senior year with Billy Baker (Taye Diggs, Private Practice) by his side as the new head coach. Together, their plan is to bring home a football championship to save the school. However, it may prove difficult as the high stakes of the Beverly/Crenshaw rivalry become very personal now that it’s friend versus friend, and father versus son.
Rounding off the winter premieres on Showcase is the third season of Legacies on Thursday, January 21 at 9 p.m. ET. Set in The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, and within The Vampire Diaries universe, Legacies tells the ongoing story of a new generation of supernatural students as they learn what it means to be special in a world that wouldn’t understand their gifts.
There’s no slowing down as Showcase will continue to deliver fresh content with Season 3 of Roswell, New Mexico coming in Spring 2021 and Season 2 of No Activity coming soon.
W Network Premieres
As always, W Network continues to deliver audiences adored seasonal events. Winterfest kicks off on January 2 and runs every weekend through to the end of the month on January 31. Start the New Year with 4 brand new romantic winter movies that will warm hearts all season.
Landing on W Network, new series Five Bedrooms premieres on Sunday, January 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. This heartfelt Australian dramedy tells the story of five unlikely allies who throw caution to the wind and hit upon a unique solution to a common problem. Ignoring the nay-saying of families and friends, they’re teaming up, signing contracts and buying a house together. Yes, it’s a grand social experiment. It might be genius, or it might be a total disaster, but they’re not putting their lives on hold for love any longer. There’s just one glaring problem: they’ll have to live with each other.
January also sees the return of everyone’s favourite detective, Nancy Drew. Premiering last winter as a Top 10 overall entertainment specialty program among A18-34, the second season premieres Wednesday, January 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The brilliant and iconic Nancy Drew returns to solve a new mystery in Horseshoe Bay. That same week, more powerful women grace the small screen with the return of the spellbinding Charmed, with the third season premiering on Sunday, January 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The powerful sisterly threesome continues to stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.
Then, Hallmark Channel year-long programming on W Network continues with more uplifting, heartfelt movies and brand new exclusive premieres. Plus, stay tuned for more all-star returns on W Network with new seasons of The Good Fight and Why Women Kill – W Network’s #1 series this fall with Season 1 holding a Top 5 overall entertainment specialty program spot – both hitting the schedule in Spring 2021.
